Writing Prompt – Day 58

You wake up in a jail cell, crusted blood covering your hands. You have no idea how you got there. The cell door clangs open, and an officer walks you to the interrogation room where two detectives wait to question you.

My example :

Simon opened his eyes to the clanging of the jail cell opening and an unpleasant looking officer coming to collect him.

“Let’s go, get a move on. You need to follow me.”

His voice was even more unpleasant than he looked. Confused, but without saying a word, Simon scrambled up and followed the officer. Taking note of the crusted blood on his hands, he tried to remember the night before but all he could remember was up to the time he went out to lunch with a friend.

The officer had led him down a few winding hallways, inmates hooting and hollering as they walked past, until they finally made it to the interrogation room. If Simon’s pulse wasn’t already racing from the obnoxious criminals, it was now from the two hardened detectives, awaiting him for a reason he was yet to find out.

Simon took a seat and told himself he wouldn’t say a word. He seen enough movies and shows to at least know a tiny bit of his rights.

“Thank you officer. We will let you know when we are ready.”

The officer nodded as he tightened the cuffs around Simon’s wrists. The detectives watched patiently and again as the officer stepped out and locked the door behind him.

“Hi Simon. I’m Detective Hanson and this is Detective Glenton. We are only here to ask you some questions, nothing to be anxious about. Okay?”

Simon may not remember what happened, and he knew that was horrible in itself, but he also knew that saying anything to these detectives could incriminate him. In the midst of his panic, he still knew what he needed to do.

“Lawyer,” he said. Until the detectives got him one, he refused to speak another word, whether he was unknowingly guilty for whatever the hell happened or not. And until he could force some memory back, he had to protect himself at any cost.

Ahhh, having no memory of the night before and waking up in a jail cell is such a nightmare. You wouldn’t know if you are guilty or not or what even happened. Very scary! I hope you had fun today. See you back here tomorrow! (:
