Start your story with one character setting up a romantic dinner, and end it with them looking at a framed wedding photo.

My example :

I do agree that it’s a little weird Tom gave me the key to his house after only getting together a handful of times, but I really like him. In fact, I think I’m falling in love with him.

Okay, I know I’m falling in love with him.

The aroma of the dinner I’m making is to die for. I can’t wait to see Tom’s face the moment he walks through the door.

Candles are lit, lights are dim, and soft music is playing in the background. The oven sounds and I dash to check if it’s ready. I pull the homemade lasagna from the oven and set it on top of the stove to cool. Pulling out the salad I made earlier, I place it on the counter. It’s almost time to assemble the plates.

I dance around the kitchen, excited for what tonight brings. I haven’t slept with Tom yet but I have a feeling tonight is the night. Even more odd that I got the key to his house actually. I shrug the thought away and walk around his house for the first time while the lasagna cools. I didn’t get a chance to earlier, I had to make sure the meal was on time for when Tom get’s out of work. I can already envision what a good housewife I would be.

I graze my fingers across the piano in the hallway. I wonder if he plays. If he does, I’ll ask him to play for me tonight. My attention is now on the photographs perched on the piano’s shelf. My eyebrows furrow together as I’m trying to understand. I grab a photo to study it more.

Tom is dressed up in a suit, kissing some woman in a wedding dress. I don’t understand. Is Tom married? If he is, why in the world would he give his mistress a damn key?

What is going on here?

My heart lurches out of my chest as the front door unlocks. Steam is coming out of my ears, even though I’m not sure exactly what this means. Maybe his wife passed away and he can’t seem to let go of the picture? I calm myself down, I gotta stop thinking the worst all the time.

Tom walks in, followed by the woman from the picture. They have these weird looks on their face that I can’t quite read. I don’t know what’s going on, but I can’t shake the uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I place the picture down slowly and take a few steps back. I have a bad feeling we won’t be having dinner tonight.
