Writing Prompt – Day 50

What is the most romantic season of the year and why?

My example :

The big white fluffy flakes fell all around them as they sat in the carriage, waiting for their ride to begin. They wore hats, gloves, and their new winter coats to beat the chill in the air. Hot cocoa surprised their tongues while they waited for the driver to take a seat.

Jenny was feeling nervous. She had felt her and Tabius growing apart for quite some time, but she didn’t know how to fix it. Her futile attempts always left her feeling inadequate as a wife. And now as he sat next to her, she wasn’t sure how to act around him anymore.

Tabius knew Jenny wasn’t fulfilled anymore. She wanted more dates and more time, while Tabius knew that bread and butter needed to be laid on the table every night. He failed her by prioritizing one over the other rather than trying to find a better balance between work and home.

Finally, when the three of them were all settled in, the driver flung the reigns over the horses, letting out a quick noise, and the beautiful animals immediately began trotting the carriage down the street. Snow crunched beneath the horses’ feet and the wind bit at Jenny and Tabius’ cheeks. The sight was absolutely breath-taking. Christmas lights exploded at every house, including the tall trees in their front yards. There was no way to miss the love put in each light that hung up for everyone else to enjoy.

Tabias’ arm swung around Jenny’s and he pulled her in close. Soft Christmas music played in the background as he kissed her on the forehead. A slight hint of Tabias’ cologne filled her senses as she heard him whisper in her ear.

“I’m sorry babe. I’ll do better, I promise.”

Jenny looked up at him, flakes falling gently on her rosy nose and cheeks, and she reached up to kiss him on his lips. The first real kiss she had had with him in a long time. The warm feeling in her chest felt familiar, like the way she used to feel before they began struggling.

Christmas always had a way of doing that. With Christmas magic and Christmas miracles, Christmas truly was the most romantic time of year. And Jenny knew, no matter if her and her husband ever had another tough year like they did this year, it wouldn’t last forever. There would always be a Christmas at the end of every year, always bringing Tabias back to her.

Literally, I love Christmas so much! There’s so many romantic things to do… Horse and carriage ride, romantic Christmas movies, a walk or ride to see Christmas lights, a tree farm to find a Christmas tree, the local tree lighting ceremony, even making gingerbread houses and snowmen. The Christmas music, the lights, the excitement, the magic, the cheerfulness every year… my husband and I absolutely love Christmas. It is literally the best time of the year. (;
