Writing Prompt – Day 49
Tell the story of the tooth fairy… Imagine that she just started her job and has to be trained.
My example :
First day on the job and I’m so nervous. What if one of the children wake up? Or what if I drop a tooth? I’ve dreamed of this job since I was little and now that it’s finally happening, I’m a complete wreck!
No wait, I can do this. Get it together Trixie. You were born to do this.
“Welcome,” Eloise said. Elaborately, she put her hands in the air and twirled around with her fairy wings flapping behind her. “We are so excited for you to join us today!”
I smiled. “Thank you. Really this is a dream come true.”
Eloise clapped her hands together, smiling brighter. “It’s a dream come true for us too. Now, let’s get the boring hassle out of the way so we can get to making magic for the precious little ones.” She grabbed a stack of paperwork and handed me a sparkly pen.
“Alright, show me where to sign!” I said. Maybe a little too enthusiastically, but Eloise was contagious.
In less than thirty minutes, I had everything signed and was now an official tooth fairy. I was elated and ready for my first assignment. Something about the atmosphere in the little magical hut in the woods helped turn my nerves down. Now instead, I felt a thrill of excitement rush through me. I was going to make real life magic for the children.
“Okay,” Eloise said, flying closer to me after putting the stack of papers away. A trail of sparkles floated and disappeared in her wake. “Enough with all of that. Yawn, am I right? Now let’s get to your training! But first, I have a gift for you.”
“A gift? For me?” I asked, surprised.
“Well,” she said, turning her voice down to a whisper. “How do you think you are going to get around without the little ones seeing you?” She winked as she handed me a box.
I looked at her and then back down at the box. “I don’t-“
“Shh,” Eloise cut in. “Please, it’s our pleasure here. Don’t be shy now. Go ahead and open the box.” She hovered there, anticipation and excitement resonating off of her.
“Okay, here I go.” I lifted the lid, not sure what would be inside. A bright light was shining out of it and for a split second it was too bright for me to see anything.
And then I finally saw it.
As soon as the light dimmed down, I was in awe. A pair of fairy wings were patiently waiting for their rightful owner. And that was me. I was going to be the one and only owner.
Without hesitating, I pulled my wings on, with tears sprinkling down my face. I looked at Eloise, flew over to her, and gave her the biggest hug I was capable of giving.
This was the beginning to the most rewarding job in the universe. And I couldn’t possibly be more proud.
I just love tooth fairy’s! They are the real MVP’s in life! (; lol!
