Writing Prompt – Day 43
Happy Wednesday ~ we are at the halfway mark for the week! Annnnnd it just so happens to be my birthday today!
I am officially 31 years old! Yay, Happy Birthday to me!!
But that’s not why you are here. (; On to the prompt! &…
Here we go! (:
An alien falls in love with a forbidden human.
My example :
No, no, no. This can’t be happening. Stupid, stupid.
Seth paces the floor in a panic. It’s not supposed to be like this. He was warned before he took the job. This is what his year of training was for, to make sure he could handle the manipulative nature of human beings. Yet, here he is, all of his training out the window.
She will be arriving to clock in any minute, and he can’t help but to feel the excitement, the nerves, the dread, all at once.
He should call his boss. He should tell him that the project has been compromised. But… he’s in love. He can’t bring himself to do it. Right now, all he wants to do is see her.
Clara steps through the door and Seth can feel the electric current wisp through his body. He knows it’s her before he even turns around.
“Good morning handsome,” Clara says. Seth turns to meet her eyes.
His heart skips a beat and he smiles shyly.
Clara lets out a small laugh. “A good morning to you too would be nice.”
Oh God, she notices. Duh, how can she not. Seth is normally out-going, in high spirits, but after realizing his feelings for her, he’s turned inward. Supposedly so he could hide from her, but obviously not very well.
Seth shakes it off and tries to act naturally. “Well good morning gorge…” The rest of the word get’s stuck in his throat. This makes Clara laugh even harder.
“Good morning gorge? Highly offensive you know,” she says as she turns on the lights to open the store for the day. If she wondered why Seth was pacing in the dark, she doesn’t let on. “You are lucky I know what the rest of that word is supposed to be. Maybe just don’t cut that word off with other girls, okay?” She smiles and playfully elbows him.
The warmth in his cheeks grow hot. Despite not being human himself, he still has similar reactions as a human does – compliments to the human suit he wears – and his feelings, well they are as real as ever. Although right now he wishes that wasn’t the case. He wipes at his clammy forehead and hopes she doesn’t notice. But of course, she does.
“Seth, are you alright?” Clara’s eyes brighten with concern as she stands in front of him, evaluating him. With the back of her hand, she feels his forehead.
Oh no, what if she finds out?
That is the last thing Seth remembers before he passed out. He wasn’t aware that human emotions can be so intense to the point of triggering physical responses. He’s learning the hard way. And he can’t let his boss know that this happened. If Clara finds out he’s wearing a body suit, he will have more than just failed. It’s his whole species that will be at risk.
Seth opens his eyes to water droplets misting his face. He searches Clara face, wondering if she now knows the truth. She’s hovering over him, smiling.
“Why are you smiling?” He manages to croak out.
She unzips her body suit. “I’m just like you.” She winks and zips herself back up. “You didn’t think they would send you here without someone watching over you did you?” She taps him on the shoulder and without looking back, she walks to the front of the store and flips over the sign to reveal the word open.
Seth let’s out a breath, realizing he’s been holding it since he spoke.
This would be a cute story to continue with. Loooooveee! Okay so now I have to go to work and spend my birthday cutting hair and then spend it with my kids & husband (: I’ll see you guys tomorrow! (:
